Liposuction has evolved from simply suction to incorporating lasers, vibration, water jets, and ultrasonic waves to improve the precision, recovery, and comfort of the procedure. Liposuction was first discovered in 1975 when Arpad and Giorgio Fischer, father and son cosmetic surgeons, developed the modern technique of liposuction. They were the first to introduce blunt hollow cannula attached to a suction source and the criss-cross suctioning technique from multiple incision sites. This technique is the basis for all liposuction and is called Suction Assisted Liposuction.
Suction-Assisted Liposuction
Suction-assisted liposuction (SAL), or traditional liposuction, involves the insertion of a hollow cannula to break down and suction out fat cells manually. While SAL has been widely used for many years, it has limitations regarding precision and potential damage to surrounding tissues. The process can create bruising and potentially increase recovery time.
Power-Assisted Liposuction

Laser-Assisted Liposuction
